it is a story of friendship, loyalty, triumph, and, most of all, a love story. From 1824 to 1835 he was stationed in the Mediterranean, and later at Constantinople. My grandfather on the maternal side spoke with a mild Scottish brogue, and my mother still gets accused of having a "British accent" every now then. While I didn’t find the resolution to this mystery particularly surprising, I don’t demand that of a novel, and ask only that it deliver a conclusion where the puzzle pieces fit together plausibly within the context of the world the author has created. The first thirty one pages of this book are about religion and the authors ideas about what his religious beliefs are. That was a little tiring, no wonder she has no memory of the accident. He had to write his own. Appropriate for academic and public libraries. The publisher really needs a larger text font, and soft cover version. Also, this series is great because so many surprises occur that keep the pages turning. Less space is devoted to the experience of being one of the Little Rock nine who challenged school segregation.

Absolutely one of the BEST books in this series. It was surprising for me to find that McClintock, famous for her YA mysteries and thrillers, was the author. This is her first historical fiction and her reason and connection to the genre is explained...
