I actually enjoyed the story and read it quickly, but it all sort of moved aside when in the final few chapters, we basically get to hear Vallee tell the entire story and unify the UFO phenomenon in a very elegant way. We must reduce our volume to the simple evangelists, select, even from them, the very words only of Jesus. The story is very well developed and complex, fast paced and full of surprises. Likeable main characters, depth and insight into the time period and people, and an intriguing plot. Tuckerman is a neglected poet, whose poems reflect his friendship with Tennyson and his grief for the loss of his wife. The conclusion seemed a bit forced, as if the author would have preferred to go on for another hundred pages; had she, I would have gladly followed.
